Sleep yourself better

January 19th, 2009

Although the first thought when the pain starts is to take Ultram, an equally urgent problem is the need to get a good night’s sleep. When you have a fairly constant level of pain, sleep is the first thing to suffer. Sleep does not come until you are too exhausted to care any more. Then, when it seems as though only an hour or so has passed, you’re awake again. Effective pain management is really the management of your feelings about the pain. So ask your doctor before adding a sleeping aid. Once you’ve established a better sleep routine, you can move on to the next step which is learning how to live your life within the new limits imposed by the pain. If you’re walking around feeling like one of the living dead, you’ll feel less positive. That means taking drugs on top of the painkillers to help you sleep properly. Get proper medical advice. Some drugs interact when you mix them. Ultram is no exception to this rule. There will be a short-term role for sleeping pills to restore your strength of purpose. Now, with Ultram to help you through the first steps, it’s back to the drawing board to relearn how to move around with the least pain.

Taking the pulse of the nation

December 13th, 2008

This year has seen the seventh opinion survey by the American Dietetic Association. It has been monitoring attitudes towards diet and nutrition since 1991 with irregular surveys. In this most recent, the headline is that three-quarters of those surveyed refused to give up the food they liked, with 80% stating there was no need to change their current diet. Now, as headlines go, this could be good or bad. If everyone liked healthy food in smaller portions, they would not have to give up anything they liked in order to maintain a low body weight. No matter how good a drug like acomplia - in clinical trials, participants lost an average of 10% of their body weight - it only works in conjunction with diet and exercise. For the purpose of analysis, the survey divides people into three groups. The remainder fell into the group unable or unwilling to struggle against the enormity of the problem. There has been a slight reduction in the number of people falling into this last class, but the percentage of those who claim to be taking positive steps remains fairly steady. All the Association can say is that more people seem to be aware of the need to think about their diet and the need to take some exercise. The majority, however, seem focused on the belief that there will soon be a miracle cure. As it stands, acomplia and the other appetite suppressants rely on the individuals to diet and exercise. The hope is that, as more do search out information, they may become convinced of the need to act. Unfortunately, television is the most popular source of information and, with advertising interests so strongly represented, this is not the most reliable source. It all comes down to convenience both in the food itself and the source of information. When that seems to be failing, it is convenient to try a tablet like acomplia. You never know, it might work - actually, it does work, but only when people confront the reality and both diet and exercise.

Your Thyroid, Your Synthroid

November 12th, 2008

The generic name for Synthroid. It is a synthetic form of the thyroid called thyroxine. It is given to patients with problems in thyroxine production. Those with decreased thyroid hormone production and enlarged thyroid glands are often prescribed generic Synthroid.

It is recommended that you take synthroid on an empty stomach - taking it an hour before meals would suffice. This is done to ensure proper drug absorption. Patients are also recommended to take it with a full glass of water to facilitate swallowing and help the drug dissolve. It is recommend that you not take the drug together with iron and calcium supplements or medications with calcium and iron in the formulation. Those two minerals are known to decrease the effectiveness of generic Synthroid (Levothyroxine).

Caution should be practiced when Generic Synthroid. Taking synthroid with the medication Lithium can cause hyperthryroidism (increase in thyroid hormones) but most of the time, Lithium works against generic Synthroid (Levothyroxine ) by depressing thyroid production.

When taking generic Synthroid (Levothyroxine), you should look out for side effects such as nervousness, palpitations, insomnia and difficulty sleeping, headaches, undesired weight loss, increase in appetite or a swelling of legs and ankles. Severe reactions to Generic synthroid (Levothyroxine) are rare, but they do occur. These include: swelling of tongue and face as well as difficulty breathing. You should learn to watch out for these symptoms. If they do appear, contact you physician immediately. You may buy generic synthroid online in our online drug store.

Patients taking Synthroid have had a lot of positive things to say about the drug. It has evidently helped them a lot in controlling and maintaining their thyroxine levels. However, some patients find that the effects of one form or Levothyroxine may differ from another. Some patients also find that they experience side effects such as palpitations and insomnia during the first 6 to 12 months of taking the drug. Other patients experience the positive effects of generic Synthroid (Levothyroxine) immediately. They report an increase in energy as well as mood regulation.

Taking generic Synthroid alone or with other diet drugs to treat obesity is not advised. Generic Synthroid (Levothyroxine) has a slew of serious side effects that can be life threatening. An overdose of Synthroid may also cause irreversible conditions as well as death.

McCain and the GOP on the defensive (again)

October 4th, 2008

Some people have been searching at the voting records of both candidates in this year’s Presidential race - seems a little unfair. Not everyone votes according to their conscience when up on the Hill. But, hey, when news is in short supply, you go for the jugular with what you’ve managed to dig up from the past. Seems that McCain has been voting against laws to force medical insurance companies to fund contraceptives. The argument is one of gender discrimination. The same insurers pay for Cialis less when men ask for their pills. Why are women denied their pills when the men are back in action? “Oh, this is the answer,” you say, “these are two different things. Men need the pills to get back to work. Women are working just as God intended without the pills, thanks to God.”

Well, since Cialis works so well, this is adding to the world’s chronic overpopulation at a time when global warming is reducing food and water supplies. Millions of children die every year from malnutrition, thousands of women die from back-street abortions gone wrong. Cialis is not a treatment for a life-threatening condition. Birth control pills reduce the loss of menstrual blood so less anemia, reduce the risk of cancer in the reproductive system, release from pain of menstrual cramps and eliminate acne. But there are no health benefits in the eyes of the insurance companies.

Pain, pain go away

September 30th, 2008

Ask your physician how to deal with moderate pain and the usual answer is to prescribe a painkiller like Ultram. It’s true that the medical profession is under pressure. But prescribing pills is a lazy answer. It gets patients out of the door quickly, but it’s not treating them as human beings with a problem to solve. Not enough doctors are prepared to work in general practice.

The key issue is that, rightly or wrongly, painkillers have a bad press. Open a newspaper and you’ll routinely see stories of people arrested for dealing in narcotic painkillers, or hooked on them and going into rehab. People need reassurance that a drug like Ultram is safe (which it is when used properly). More importantly, they need options if they prefer to avoid taking medication for their problems. Other times, it’s at the heavy end with manipulation.

The aim is simple. Pain often arises because joints stiffen and people lose muscle tone through inactivity. So people need to be reintroduced to the idea of mobility. In this, the social interaction between the patient and the therapist is crucial. If trust is established, people work their way through the fear of movement to find they can move without feeling pain or with pain reduction than they expected. This doesn’t mean people should avoid using Ultram. It simply means they should take Ultram only for a limited time and work more at getting better naturally.

Prostate surgery is no longer such a threat

September 29th, 2008

A significant proportion of men find they can no longer get or maintain strong erection. Sex becomes a good memory. One of the rather more unfortunate side effects of surgery to remove a growth in the prostate, is the phenomenon politely called erectile dysfunction.

Except that some clever people in Canada have been trying out Levitra in a placebo-controlled, double-blind, randomized trial. The present system calls for one of the PDE5 inhibitors to be given every night at a low dose. This tested the response of men taking Levitra at the standard dose whenever they felt like attempting sexual intercourse. The results clearly show a higher success rate than taking the drug every night. The study involved some 423 participants in 87 hospitals in Europe, the U.S., Canada and South Africa over a period of some two-and-a-half years. So the main issue of this news story is that even if a guy with a knife cuts chunks off your manhood, Levitra can still bring life back to the old dog (or young dog if you were unlucky enough to have prostate cancer as a younger man).

Get relief for LUTS

September 25th, 2008

It’s fascinating what a difference one vowel can make. The only good thing you can say is that BPH is better than the malignant cancer version of the growth that also expands to restrict and, if not treated, crush the bladder. So men find it necessary to pass urine more frequently, largely because the bladder will not empty normally. This stream is very powerless. Passing urine becomes a strain and, in the end, painful.

The results are impressive. The best performance came as the study proceeded into the third month from the men who took one 5mg tablet per day. As a side effect to this treatment, the men also found their sexual performance improved. Cialis does not remove the need to have surgery to remove the obstruction when it gets unmanageable But the all round quality of life is improved while waiting for surgery.

Well here comes a news flash from the future. The research teams based at the University of Texas and Lilly Research Laboratories have just finished a double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled study into the use of Cialis. There’s going to be a study published in the October edition of The Journal of Urology. In ten countries, more than one thousand men participated being divided into five groups: one with the placebo, and the other four with different dosages of Cialis.

Save the planet but lose your sex life? I mind!

September 20th, 2008

The most funny thing is how reading a simple sentence can suddenly take you back to your own childhood. There I was, somewhere around eight years old, and I got my first bicycle. I must confess, it wasn’t a new one. My parents thought that second-hand was best because I would rapidly outgrow any machine. This nostalgia lay dormant until a TV advertisement some years ago in which a father reluctantly buys his son the racing bicycle he has been coveting and observes with a sad shake of his head that the saddle will, shrink it to barbie-size. Today, I was looking down a list of medication for erectile dysfunction treatment published by the Mayo Clinic, and the last item of their list is, “Prolonged bicycling”. It seems that the television father was right to be concerned about his son’s safety. At this point, all men reading this should get off their bicycles immediately and order cialis online. Bicycles are dangerous to your sexual health. Except, of course, this would be a completely irrational response. Cycling always has been an excellent form of transport (particularly given the current need to save the planet - I say ban the internal combustion engine right now). It is also an excellent form of exercise both in its own right and for weight loss purposes (enjoying the planet is best done when we are healthy and fit - the cialis will still come in useful as well). In 2005, The Journal of Sexual Medicine published studies yet again linking saddle design to ED. Salesmen claim that a deep split in the back and a groove down the middle of a saddle reduce the risks of ED although the research evidence is less clear that this design actually has a beneficial effect. Right! So let us get a little more real. Millions of people around the world have been using bicycles for more than one hundred years and, although there have been medical comments linking numbness to saddles from 1890 onwards, there has never been an epidemic of ED. This is, of course, the same argument used by tobacco companies that millions of smokers do not get lung cancer. Nevertheless, cycling a few miles to work or recreational use is unlikely to cause any long-term problems. Such risks as do exist are, as the Mayo Clinic assert, from prolonged cycling. You would have to be doing hundreds of miles a month for there to be any real risk. However, note a study on the BMJ in 2004 in which long-distance riders were evaluated. The conclusion was that road bicycles are less “dangerous” than mountain bikes. More painwas associated with lower handlebar settings. Finally, standing on the pedals during long rides can relieve the compression and restore the flow of blood. If all else fails, there is always cialis to help you enjoying your life.

Through a glass clearly.

September 13th, 2008

We know that sometimes a problem seems less serious when it is considered through the bottom of a glass (except, for these purposes, remember that excessive drinking can be a cause of your problems with erection). But Russian courage is not required to get you through this door for your first consultation. We are demystifying the whole process for you so that you can approach the entire exercise with more confidence.

Now let’s stay calm. It’s a problem of time and fairness. The practice administrators who schedule appointments guess how much time each patient is likely to need with the doctor. This may be as little as five minutes for what appear to be routine matters. When you booked your appointment, just what did you say was wrong with you? We’re not telling you to be completely honest with whoever makes the appointments. The moral of this story is to make sure you book enough time with the doctor for that first appointment. Only then can you guarantee that you will get everything you need.

There is one other small matter to mention. The practice administrators have years of experience. When patients do not say exactly what is wrong, there is a short list of likely problems. Get over it. No-one employed there really knows you or is likely to have a reason for wanting further information. They’ve all got more important things to worry about. You have to trust the system to protect you and find you the best treatment. In most cases, this will simply be a prescription for Viagra, Cialis or Levitra. That means going to a pharmacy. If you find that trip to the pharmacy a bridge too far, there is always an online pharmacy where you can buy online. In some things, there can be the appearance of greater privacy. But who are these people in the online pharmacy? And will the delivery guy not suspect what is in the plain package? Paranoia about reputation, particularly as it affects sexual performance, is understandable. But you have to live your life with your eye on the most important truths.Control of fear brings relief.

In our inner voice, we’ve already gone through that door and the doctor knows that we’ve got ED. So how will the doctor react? Well, even though this repeats the same old line, you have to get over yourself. You do not have a unique problem. Hundreds have gone through the same door you’re standing outside. After initial words of reassurance, the doctor’s next words may be, “I think we need another appointment.”

For the poison ivy, get a goat

September 3rd, 2008

It’s summer and along with all that nature comes poison ivy, that lush green monster with pretty yellow flowers. And just so you can keep calling global warming a myth, poison ivy is one of the plants responding well to the increases in temperature, humidity and the level of carbon dioxide. You can see it spreading along hedgerows and into your back yard. It’s a misfortune to touch this plant or to touch something that has touched this plant - did you know your pet can pass through a thicket and bring its richness back to you on its fur? This plant is bursting with an oily resin called urushiol. If this penetrates your skin, you’ll almost certainly get blisters and, in due course, a rash. Only a few people are immune. For light exposure - you realized the danger immediately and washed the affected area of skin with warm water and plain soap or a solvent like rubbing alcohol - an over-the-counter topical steroid cream will usually be sufficient. For more serious exposure, you’re going to need the cream plus Prednisone. Two final thoughts on removing a patch of poison ivy from your yard. Lay in a supply of Prednisone and, wearing gloves, cut the vine and throw it on a bonfire. But watch out. Heat and smoke can lift urushiol particles into the atmosphere so don’t stand down wind of the fire. And if all else has failed, get a goat. Goats love to eat poison ivy.
